Miss South Africa Natasha Joubert delighted with response to first phase of advocacy campaign

Reigning Miss South Africa, Natasha Joubert, is delighted with the overwhelming response to the first phase of her advocacy campaign, the Natasha Joubert Collective.

Joubert launched a partnership late last year with her alma mater, Boston City Campus, that would allow 12 South African learners, aged 18 and older to receive full, one-year academic scholarships to study at Boston City Campus. These scholarships are for distance e-learning studies towards a full-time undergraduate qualification.

The Study Buddy Fund also partnered with the Miss South Africa Organisation and allocated R500 000 to fund another 15 students at Boston City Campus.

Entries closed last week and the recipients will be announced shortly.

Boston City Campus, a nationwide private provider of quality higher education, was founded in 1991 and currently has 47 support centres, more than 20 000 registered students, over 25 qualifications and many short learning programmes for quick skills acquisitions from which to select.

Says Joubert: “I am humbled at the response I received and, together with Boston, will be selecting the candidates whose names will be announced soon. The motivational letters I received from applicants were moving and it is heart-breaking that financial constraints obstruct the aspirations of so many talented individuals. It has strengthened my commitment to do as much as possible in the education and entrepreneurial spaces to make a difference in some people’s lives. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – education should never be a privilege limited to the fortunate few.”

Miss South Africa is presented by Weil Entertainment in association with Sun International. SABC3 is the official broadcast partner.
